Leadership and safety culture on farms, at harvesting sites, and in storage operations, taking account of the harvest season, distances, and the people doing the work.
In the field, working conditions change with the weather, the crop stage, and the arrival of new teams. A harvesting crew may move while other activities continue on the farm. Those coordinating this work need to understand the risks in each situation and be clear about the decisions they can make.
Distance from headquarters matters too. Guidance that seems clear in a corporate meeting may reach an operator, service provider, or supervisor in a different form. It is useful to observe how people receive that guidance, which questions they can raise, and what happens when they identify a condition that differs from the plan.
Harvest planning, contracting, and resource availability influence these choices. Understanding safety culture in agribusiness therefore requires listening both to those who set priorities and to those who know the work at operational sites.
The assessment may bring together visits to work sites, conversations with teams and leaders, and an analysis of management practices. The distribution of sites and the stage of the agricultural cycle guide how this listening is organized.
From there, the work helps define responsibilities and routines that make sense to each audience. Leadership development and follow-up on the tools consider operational situations, with room to review what is not being understood or used.
