Electric Power

Leadership and safety culture in power generation, transmission, and distribution, with attention to the decisions of those who operate, maintain, and work on electrical infrastructure.

Safety follows an asset throughout its life

An electrical installation goes through construction, operation, maintenance, and changes over time. Each phase involves different activities and professionals. In geographically distributed operations, in-house teams and contractors also need to share clear references for the work.

The distance between management and operational sites makes it important to observe how decisions reach each location. What do leaders follow up on? How are questions handled? What information from the field returns to those who set priorities and allocate resources?

Understanding these relationships helps assess culture beyond an individual site. Differences between assets, regions, and audiences need to be recognized in planning and in developing the people who lead safety.

Establish a direction that makes sense for each asset

The scope may combine a culture assessment, an evaluation of serious and fatal accident prevention, and leadership development. Listening considers the responsibilities of different functions and the involvement of contractors in the activities.

Implementation is followed with attention to routines and proactive tools. One team’s learning can help others, provided the organization examines the conditions of each operation before transferring a practice to a different context.
