Factory building with rows of machining equipment and walkways

Industrial Manufacturing

Developing leadership and safety practices in the manufacture of machinery, equipment, and components, considering the work carried out at each site.

Each plant has its own way of organizing work

Industrial manufacturing may combine mass production, custom manufacturing, and assembly activities. The degree of automation, the size of the parts, and teams’ involvement vary. A cultural transformation proposal needs to recognize these differences before defining tools.

The context also changes within a factory. Production, equipment preparation, material handling, and maintenance each require their own decisions. What seems like simple guidance may be interpreted differently by the people planning the work and those carrying it out.

Understanding culture means examining how the organization discusses these situations. Leaders’ presence, responses to reports, and clear decision criteria help identify what needs to be developed.

Develop competencies before expanding the tools

Work with leaders may begin with understanding their role in safety and defining management responsibilities. Observing practices and listening to teams guide the choice of priorities.

Tools are developed and followed up with the site’s context in mind. This process allows real difficulties in applying them to be discussed and necessary changes to be made, rather than treating implementation as complete simply because training has taken place.
