I began working with Raízen in July 2017, in the Brazilian operations of its different business areas. I contributed to leadership development, communication, the review of contractor management, and strategic safety planning.
Make expectations of leaders clear
We created the Safety Competency Guide for Leaders and developed the Donos da Segurança program. We also delivered training in safety culture, risk perception, work permits, and behavioral observation.
What leaders need to understand and know how to do in safety deserves to be clear to them. Holding people responsible also requires attention to the preparation of those taking on that responsibility. The guide and training were part of this area of development at Raízen.
Take care with the language used with teams
We supported communication through campaigns and games.
Language deserves attention because guidance needs to be understood by its recipients. I consider it important for each resource to help address the topic with people, respecting the responsibility of the communicator and the understanding of those participating.
Include contractors and organize priorities
We supported the review of the Contractor Management Program and the development of Strategic Safety Planning in 2017 and 2018.
Caring for safety involves the people who participate in the work, including contractors. At Raízen, the review of this program was part of our work with the company and gave attention to this responsibility.
