Coca-Cola

Leadership and safety culture with bottlers

Equipment and professionals at the Coca-Cola plant in Dietlikon, Switzerland

The work with Coca-Cola began in August 2018, in its Brazilian operations. My work brought together facilitation of the Annual Bottlers Meeting, leading the Safety Forum, and participation in developing the Safety Culture Assessment.

Leadership, culture, and performance with bottlers

I facilitated the Annual Bottlers Meeting with a focus on safety leadership, culture, and performance, using gamification resources.

The way people lead and their understanding of safety deserve examination alongside the discussion of performance. When using gamification, I consider it important for the resource to help people engage with the content and reflect on their responsibilities. The format needs to serve learning.

Safety as a shared topic

I led the Safety Forum with all bottlers in Brazil. This was another way bottlers participated in the work, in addition to the annual meeting.

Bringing together people from different operations requires attention to the diversity of contexts. There are shared responsibilities, but they need to be understood by people who carry out different kinds of work. I see value in making space for this discussion, keeping safety among the topics that deserve leaders’ attention.

Participate in creating and conducting the assessment

I participated in creating the Safety Culture Assessment protocol and conducting four assessments.

Understanding the culture makes it possible to examine how safety is understood within the organization. For leaders, this perspective deserves consideration in decisions about work.
