I began my work with EMS in January 2020. The development work involved the entire Manaus plant, with safety culture training, and the Safety, Environment, and Health team in São Paulo.
The entire Manaus plant
Training in Manaus covered the entire plant. This choice of audience creates space to address safety culture among the people who work together in operations and contribute to how work happens.
Guidance from a colleague, the way a task is organized, and the attention of a leader help communicate what safety means in that environment. For me, discussing culture with the entire plant broadens the understanding that each person contributes to this care.
The Safety, Environment, and Health team
In São Paulo, I trained the Safety, Environment, and Health team. Professionals in this area are responsible for helping the organization understand risks and guiding prevention efforts.
Preparing these professionals deserves the same attention given to those in operations. Knowledge needs to reach people in a way they can understand so that they can use it in decisions at work.
