The term Lifelong Learning means that the learning will never end.
And this has everything to do with safety culture that is the culture of learning. This journey pursues excellence, and it shows that there is nothing we do so well that we cannot improve, always transforming the skills that are acquired along the way into performance, that is, consolidating results.
Thinking about that, I decided to write about some tips to make this journey joyful and that always keep us in the direction of growth. Let’s check it out?
- Intentional learning
The one that happens in a disciplined way: how about creating a Cumbuca section, curating titles that start in non-technical skills.
The reading and the environment for discussion are perfect for provoking reflections, such as self-evaluation and generating commitments and new actions.
- Informal learning
The one that happens outside the classroom boundaries. The interesting thing here is that we seek experiences that connect people to the purpose and mission of safety.
I like light initiatives, such as planning to watch a movie with a title related to the topic of safety, during the weekend.
When you return, schedule a chat with popcorn to discuss what was seen and connect with the current environment.
- Rest
Encourage your group to rest.
Quality rest stimulates learning and retention of content.
A researcher at the University of London recently found that good hours of sleep increase our ability to learn.
- Go slow and steady
That is right, the culture of learning is strengthened not with intensity and speed, the secret is constancy.
The important thing here is continuity, so plan, create a calendar with all the actions. Surprises are tasty, precisely because they are unexpected, so make it happen by combining fixed actions with planning.
- Inspire
Each action in the learning journey is a great challenge, so think about connecting people with pleasurable actions that rescue the value of knowledge all the time.
One of the actions that inspired me last year was taking leaders to accompany employees retuning home.
Guys, that arrival home, the hug, the smiles, the expressions, the speeches, the children’s screams, all of this connects, all of this builds and reminds us that safety is from humans to humans with humans.
- Seek the different
Today we have different channels to communicate and consequently, to learn. Therefore, select podcast channels, articles, Facebook pages, Instagram, LinkedIn that are interesting for learning about the safety culture.
This constant dynamic with different channels generates interest. People see value in this update.
